The Seam 3.0 CR1 release is now available! First of all the all-important links to the goodies:
This release contains the following Seam modules:
- Seam Catch
- Seam Config
- Seam Faces
- Seam International
- Seam Persistence
- Seam Remoting
- Seam Rest
- Seam Security
- Seam Servlet
- Seam Validation
- Seam Wicket
- Seam Solder
A lot of work was done for this release to streamline our release process and bring all of the modules in line with our established module standards. We still have a lot of finishing-up work to do before we reach 3.0 Final, however the CR1 release should now be very stable and will closely resemble the final release.
You will be pleased to find that this release now includes consolidated API documentation and reference documentation (i.e. all of the documentation is now in a single document, rather than separate documents for each module). Further, source code has been included in a single, exploded directory structure making it convenient to browse through the source code for all of the Seam modules in one place.
The next release that we are planning is CR2, for which the most exciting addition will be Seam Forge. We're really looking forward to getting Forge into the hands of our users, and while it will only be a technical preview we're certain you'll find the cool things it can do really boosts your productivity. The release cycle for this will be quite short, so expect it in about a week from now.
As always, please report any issues you find with any of the modules, the documentation or examples using the link above.
Once again, thanks to all of the developers in the Seam team for your tremendous efforts on this important milestone release.
Great news!.... looking forward to use Seam3 soon...
OBS: 'API doc' link works but 'reference' is not there right now...
try this
Congratulations! How about Seam mail and Seam framework? Will they be included in the Seam 3 Final? Thanks.
Oops, I've fixed the link for the reference docs - thanks Nik.
Unfortunately these modules were not ready in time to include in the final release, however the mail module should be released within a short timeframe after. The Seam framework module is scheduled for Seam 3.1.
It would be great to see some of the Seam 2 JSF components make it into Seam Faces, such as the upload component. In some circumstances, RichFaces file upload is too fancy.
- Is there any plan to run a 2.x Seam app in Seam 3.x?
- Will there be any migrating instruction or perhaps a tool for migrating?
Thanks
Documentation for Seam Securty is, well, rather useless :(
I recommend you file a feature request in JIRA [1] for the Seam Faces module.

There are plans to support a between Seam 2 and 3. The details haven't been finalised yet, however you can expect it for the Seam 3.1 release. Dan is currently working on a guide for migration, so stay tuned for that.
I apologise for that, I'm still working on it.
Some modules are missing in Seam 3.0? Cron(Scheduling before), JBPM, GWT???
Modules such as Cron, GWT, jBPM and others are no less important. They just aren't being bundled yet with the Seam 3 stack release. Adding them to the project is as straightforward as adding the artifact dependency. We'll likely do a more democratic voting process for determining what goes in Seam 3.1.
We held off on adding the mail module because Cody is doing some refactoring to improve the design. I'm really looking forward to the result, and I'm sure you will be as well.
I'm bit confused with status and position of seam forge. Is seam forge is part of seam? Or it's a separated project? AFAIK,seam forge is replacement for old seam-gen, right?
Forge will be included in the CR2 release, as the announcement states.
It was promissed some time ago that Seam beta2 will run on Glassfish. Does it?
I try to run all examples but only princess-rescue can run on jetty.
I believe that all the remaining issues have been ironed out now. If you discover otherwise, please raise an issue in JIRA.
